Finding My Thunder

I'm sharing this snippet from Miss Diane Muniers blog because she's an awesome writer. I really love her work and I think you all will, too!   Danny moved closer and he pressed his lips against mine. It only lasted for a few seconds, but when he pulled back he smiled at me. “I want …

Rambling Monday

I need a new series or book or something to read. I'm writing and reading like usual, but something is missing . . . You ever get that feeling? Like, you're reading a book, or the past five or ten books, and somewhere inside your brain you're thinking: "Have I read this before?" Not meaning …

I'm reblogging my own post. Doesn't say much for my creativity at the moment, I know. But it's my kids birthday and I'm too busy constructing a guitar-shaped cake to do much more than hit the "reblog" button. so . . . Cheers!

Nicholas C. Rossis's avatarNicholas C. Rossis

From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's booksThe penultimate post in my Bookbub Insights series deals with that age-old question: how to get more readers to review your book. Following my post, How to Score Great Amazon Reviews: Resources and More, I will now include here some of Bookbub’s ideas on the subject, along with mine.

1. Use your Platform

When I launched Infinite Waters, I had seven reviews within a single week. With Runaway Smile, I had 30 reviews within a month. How?

Nicholas C. Rossis's avatarNicholas C. Rossis

From the blog of Nicholas C. Rossis, author of science fiction, the Pearseus epic fantasy series and children's booksAfter focusing on both stand-alone releases and books that are part of a series, this last post in my Bookbub Insights series suggests nine different ways to promote any book. Some of these you may be familiar with; others will probably be news to you.

The post is based on an excellent recent post by Diana Urban, titled How to Market Your Book After the New Release Buzz Dies Down.

1. Use discounting to hook new readers

Use a backlist book to hook new readers. Readers are more inclined to try a book or author they’ve never heard of if it’s offered at a bargain price or free. However, they’re less likely to risk spending full-price before they’re a fan of an author’s work. Sixty percent of bargain readers purchase other books from an author they discovered through a price promotion, so after they buy a discounted backlist title they’ll often be willing to buy…

A Closer Look

In honor of my upcoming book release (10/15/15), I'm posting a small section of Chapter One, entitled, BEFORE I walk up the main road, cane in hand, trying to ignore the pain in my hip as I swerve through the witless crowds. Getting closer, I can feel the shifting forces in my bones; the familiar …

I'm really trying to blog more and do it regularly and since I enjoy the "Teaser Tuesday" bit one Sharon's Book Nook Blog every week and happen to be out of ideas at the moment, I thought I'd do a copy-cat post! When the idea well has run dry, you cheat! Right? Don't you judge …
