I’m having one of those moments where I’m like, “It’s official. I am awesome.”
There is nothing like the feeling of typing those last few words on a manuscript. Since I officially finished my second book, Countdown to Chaos, I am soaking in that airy, joyous feeling of knowing that I have accomplished something great.
Don’t get me wrong, just because I’m done doesn’t mean I’m anywhere near finished. I’ve still got to edit that mother . . .
. . . but I’m still floating.For now.
Next stage is the BIG one. The crafting of the story. This is where my CP’s and beta readers will be coming in. I love this stage!! I get to mold my baby, kill my darling, and chop and hack away and build it back up! And when I’m done, I will have a beautifully polished manuscript for potential readers to love (or hate).
I’m a natural im-perfectionist in every way, except with my writing.
Seriously. Dude. You have no idea how I loathe mistakes, misspelled words, useless commas, and–the bane of my existence–plot holes. I draft and redraft and re-redraft and spell-check and all that crap to the point where my eyes cross. Then I take a week off and go back and do it again.
This is my week off! So I’m feeling awesome!
That’s where the above song comes in! Because it says, “I won’t waste a moment in fear.” And that’s where I’m at right now. I’m preparing to shove my little bird out of the nest and hope it flies.
Congratulations!!! I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I’m doing a happy dance with you. Oh yeah!

Hopefully, you won’t be disappointed.
I can’t wait until you get to the parts with Avery and Teresa.

Other writers get it. Charging away from the computer and shouting. Mostly though civilians don’t. They smile politely and say, “That’s nice, but the dog needs to go out.”

Good for you. That’s a great feeling and we all deserve one sometime.

I had to brag a little. I think the Pointer Sisters said it best…
I’m so excited. And I just can’t hide it.
I’m about to lose control. And I think I like it.

I love the Pointers. I even gave them a mention in one of my books. That’s pretty descriptive of the feeling. Happy for you.
