I'm reblogging this post because I read The Wrong David and really enjoyed it!
Another Tuesday, Another Heartbreak . . .
If you're looking for the play by play of the heart-shattering episode, "Red Rose,"click here. Last nights episode of Sons Of Anarchy was one of the toughest yet. And considering what the past six and 11/12's seasons has shown us, that is really saying something! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWEoh35zU_U It opened peacefully, and closed with aching silence. First off, I should warn you that the query letter contains a minor spoiler for the book. (There was also a bigger one in there, but I’ve deleted it from the example; I don’t think it’s strictly necessary to illustrate the point.)
There are a few reasons why I think this query was successful. I followed a basic when/then structure in the pitch (the first two paragraphs). When Isla’s life starts to spin off the rails, then she must discover the truth about who she is and what she can do. It also outlines the stakes: Isla’s father is in danger and needs rescuing. Flash Fiction: Bread Line
“Could you get another one?” She held up the loaf of bargain priced sandwich bread, voice calm, eyes flickering. The clerk at the register, who’d just finished bagging the groceries, scrunched his brows together. “Ma’am, is there something wrong with the bread?” The woman was barely a day over twenty-two and wasn’t used to being …

By Your Request: Query Success Stories and Why They Were Successful
I am reblogging this post.
It’s interesting stuff– helpful to any hopeful writer, seeking publication, agented or not.
Today I have the first of a couple of posts about successful queries and why they worked, just like you asked! So, since I work in acquisitions, I asked some of the authors I had the privilege of acquiring to send me their stories. Enjoy!
Michael Cristiano is a Canadian writer. His relentless obsession with fiction began long before he could even spell the words ‘relentless obsession’. He spent most of his childhood getting lost in fantastical masterpieces, learning foreign languages, and attempting to be published by the age of thirteen. Though he’s off by a few years, The Black Oracle is his debut novel and is due for publication in 2015.

I have never walked on such a fragile line with anyone before. But I cannot forget the feeling or forget him…..
Maybe I’m in love with you when I have no reason to be at all, and maybe I fall for people too fast and care too much. Maybe I misread situations and misjudge people. Maybe I don’t always make the right choice. But I only have the best and purest of intentions. And I need someone to know that right now.
I feel I haven’t been able to catch a break lately.. but you can’t always use that as an excuse. We all make mistakes and take wrong turns every now and then. That’s life. None of us are perfect. We are flawed people, but it makes us all the more worth loving. ♥
Some of the nicest compliments I’ve ever received have…
