Hi! I’m Tamie Dearen—wife, mother, grandmother, dentist, Jesus-lover, musician, composer, and author (as of 2013). I’ve published four books and a novella in The Best Girls Series, and one Young Adult Fantasy, Alora: The Wander-Jewel. Why Follow these 3 Top Rules on Social Media?

Reblogging!
Anyone who knows me, knows I’m always on Twitter. I’m also an author who uses Twitter/facebook/pinterest/google+ to connect and spread the word about my writing.
So, this sounds like great advice!

No one joins Twitter, FB, Google+ or Pinterest to constantly read about your book. That’s not very entertaining or interesting at all. Some writers don’t buy books from other writers, they want to sell their own. If ALL writers are doing on Twitter, Google+ or FB is self-promoting they are not only NOT attracting readers, but turning potential book buyers away.

.
Yes, famous writers may attract attention for what they have to say – not normally related to their books – but rather to their writer’s life or ideas – and they are often interesting or funny. It’s called social networks not selling pages… Authors should rather focus their promotional efforts on trying to get people to talk about things and yes, even about their fellow writer’s books:

  • by reviewing them,
  • reading and recommending them,
  • taking them to their book groups,
  • writing articles or blog posts about their…

More great writing advice!

Bestseller-List

.

If you ever see Marketing and Advertising from traditional puplishers, it’s for their Bestseller authors only, such as: Advance Book Reviews, posted on their book’s cover, Book Tours and Signings of celebrity authors, media coverage including reviews, speaking engagements, and placing at major bookstores who report to Bestseller lists.  How can author-publishers use the methods of global trade publishers to promote their self-published books?  You don’t need to travel to the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, like Johannes Kepler did in 1620 – yes, self-publishing was en vogue already four hundred years ago!

.
7 Million Self-Published Titles:  Stiff Competition
Since 2010 roughly 7 million new self-published books appeared, almost all at online retailer’s websites.  And these titles will be offered for many years to come, as most of them are in digital format. The “gold rush” seems to be over and self-publishing has been dropping almost 50% per…

counting my blessings

I’m in awe of your bravery.
I’m re blogging this post, too because… lady, you’re doing exactly what you should be doing. And it’s hard and it sucks. But you’re still doing it.
All any of us can do in the face of tragedy is stand together and be grateful. Grateful for what was and is.
Thank you, Meredith.

I’ve been very unhappy lately and it’s been over a month—five weeks and two days exactly—since I’ve been able to experience true joy. Probably longer than that if I’m being honest. If you follow my blog, you’re aware that my boss of almost twenty years, who was also one of my dearest friends in the entire world, lost his battle with cancer last month. People keep asking if I’m “okay” and depending on your definition of “okay,” the answer is “yes.” I’m functioning. I get out of bed every day, work out, go to work, indulge in some social interaction, read, write, etc., but despite the outer appearance of hanging in there, I’m merely going through the motions. My friend’s death weighs on my mind almost constantly and I miss his presence in my life more than I can convey in writing. Throughout our years of friendship, whenever I would…

Hi there! Well, today is the sixth day on my seven day blog tour. If you want to catch my other stops, you can find links to them on my 4WillsPublishing Author Page.

Today, I would like to tell you about my online journey. This has had its ups and downs!

The most difficult thing for me to get to grips with, was how on earth to make a blog, and what to put on it. I started out on a WordPress platform, which was a basic blogroll page. Slowly, bit by bit, I learned how to add other ‘static’ pages. Eventually…
