Revenge
I read this, and laughed my butt off.
I read this, and laughed my butt off.
This piece is so eloquent, so touching, I have to share it.
This is the hardest blog I’ve ever attempted to write.
For the better part of eight months, I have been struggling under the thumb of a rather intense depression. This is a monster I’ve battled many times in my life; it is not new. Yet, this has been a particularly brutal one, and I’m not out of the woods yet.
As a writer, I try to write about everything. But it’s hard to write about depression. For one, there’s the fear that the minute you say, “I’m suffering from depression,” people will look at you funny. That they will nod at you with wincing, constipated face, place a hand on your arm and say, with all good intent, “How are you?” And your pain will war with your desire to be “normal” and not looked at funny by sympathetic people at parties. So you will answer, “Fine, thanks” while you’ll…

As an Indie author, whose debut is due out in little more than three months, the idea of book promotion is a tad scary. Here's a link where us noobs can get a little advice. http://hbspublications.blogspot.com/2014/03/your-book-launch-marketing-methods-and.html?m=1
Just another post I found helpful for writers seeking representation
It’s been almost a full year now since I signed with my agent, but the thing about querying is, if you did it for long enough, I’m not sure you ever forget what it was like.
Me? I did it on and off for four years.
I got something like ten rejections on my first ms before I stopped (not that I’d normally advise giving up after that low a number, it’s just that it was far more of a “market timing” thing – NA! – than anything else), fifty before shelving the second one (what, until my most recent ms, was “the book of my heart”), and then was very lucky to find my agent through The Writer’s Voice contest with my third, for which I only sent about five queries.
That adds up to a whole lotta two things: 1) Research 2) Rejections
When I queried the first…

I am so very excited to be hosting my first Blog Hop! Not only because it's an excuse to dig around for cute, fuzzy, little gifs like the one above, but because the wonderful Elsie Elmore (there she is ) asked me to and I was so freaking excited, I said, "YES!" right away. See, …
Every now and again, I see agents have a conversation on Twitter that makes it clear that writers are shooting themselves and one another in the foot by not following standard “query procedure.” Of course every agency has its own submission guidelines, and these should always be followed and can be really easily found on almost every agency website, but there are a few things that may not be so clear, and hopefully, after reading this, they will be.
Q: How do I know if an agent accepts my category/genre?
A: Check out his or her page on the agency website or his or her personal blog. You can find this info on QueryTracker as well, but you should always be checking the agency website for submission guidelines anyway, so you may as well confirm and see what’s most likely the most updated information.
Q: When can I nudge?

Once more about Google+ : Google is by far the most popular search engine on the planet, and Google+ should be at the top of your list when it comes to digital marketing. “How to Make Use of Google+ as an Author” was the title of yesterday’s blog post, with several links to other posts about Google+ advantages and displaying an info-graphic with 56!!! REASONS why it makes sense to be on the 2nd largest network in the world why it is worth to be on Google+ and get top Google search engine rankings. And still, I found a comment:
.
“Is Google+ worth it?”
This question made me wonder … as I had the impression, the comment-er had only read the headline, and not the 56 reasons, nor the links I provided in my post. The question could also have been:…
