I was in a local retail outlet, shopping like every other nutcake on a Black Friday Frenzy when I overheard (Yep, I’m an eaves dropper.) this exchange:
1st woman says this to 2nd woman in the checkout line behind me: “Hey! Do you remember me?”
2nd woman: “Yeah, I remember you. Been a couple months since I’ve seen you.”
1st woman is now standing right beside me when she says this: “Yeah. I’ve been really sick. I had an infection in my colon.”
I can’t say what was said next because I tuned out for a minute after that. I was caught in a fit of wonder, thinking:
Did she just really say that? Without even lowering her voice? When did it become socially acceptable to describe ones COLON ISSUES in public?
Is it just me who thinks this way? Am I the only one who knows that casually discussing bowel issues while surrounded by dozens of people who don’t want to know but are stuck listening is NOT okay?
Even as I write about this I am wondering, “How deeply was I affected by this passing incident that I feel like I need to blog about it just to get it out of my system?”
